Apple is set to introduce new Macs with its latest M4 chip, but a new MacBook Air won’t be part of the initial lineup. According to Apple insider Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the production of MacBook Air models with the M4 chip has just begun, pushing their release to early 2025.
Familiar MacBook Air Design and Dual Sizes
Gurman shared that the new MacBook Air will retain the same design as the 2022 models. Apple will offer two sizes, a 13-inch and a 15-inch model, maintaining its popular choices. This approach aligns with Apple’s 2024 strategy of integrating advanced chips across its devices.
The M4 Chip: Power and AI Integration “M4 MacBook Air Launch“
The upcoming M4 chip promises increased speed and efficiency, boosting Mac performance significantly. Apple’s new processor will also support enhanced AI capabilities, branded as “Apple Intelligence,” aimed at improving device functionality. This chip will empower Apple devices with smarter, more responsive features.
Software Update and Expected Release “M4 MacBook Air Launch”
Apple is likely to launch the M4-powered MacBook Air after a December software update, expected to be macOS 15.2. This update will introduce new Apple Intelligence features, setting the stage for a January to March 2025 MacBook Air launch.
High-End Mac Studio Postponed
Gurman also confirmed that Apple’s high-end Mac Studio, initially rumored for release in 2024, will now arrive mid-2025. Both the Mac Studio and Mac Pro will feature M4 versions, offering ray tracing and a refined Neural Engine to support advanced AI tasks.
With these shifts, Apple is unlikely to host a major October event this year. However, the company may still reveal surprises as 2024 progresses. M4 MacBook Air Launch
